When it comes to a CPU for a new build, What would be the best choice for gaming AMD or INTEL ???

Not built a system in a long time but your budget for CPU, motherboard and Ram would give people a bit of context to give you the best options. They usually leap frog each other at different price points.

I'm actually upgrading an old Alienware system, My budget is € 2000 Just don't know which way to go. Like AMD is a bit cheaper than INTEL but, which one has the best performance for gaming at high settings for games like the latest Call of Duty, BATTLEFIELD 2042 and so on...

Ryzen 7800X3D is a good choice. I have one myself plus in a year or two you can sell the CPU and buy the new best CPU as it will just drop straight into the motherboard.

AMD tends to be a better bang for your buck. Keyword being TENDS.

If you get a good deal on an Intel there is no harm in going with that.

No. If you game then the 7800X3D is as good as Intels best at gaming while costing a lot less and using far less power. Another thing is with AMD you can drop in another CPU once released and keep all other components the same. So it has longevity as well.

Especially in multiplayer games, the X3D's cache really kicks Intel's ass.

They both constantly put out new models, so different times of the year there might be a better option on the top end. Right now AMD is the top dog with 7950X3D, 7800X3D.

The GPU matters more. And then what resolution you play at.

My son recently spec'ed an AMD system for me and he was spot on. It can run Avatar - Frontiers of Pandora at 4K 56 fps and a mixture of medium and high settings, and Cyberpunk at 4K.

The thing that most surprised me was that the CPU doesn't need to be AMD's top end for gaming, which saved a bit.

Yes, Avatar FP is the new Crysis. It looks absolutely stunning and performs very well so I'm happy, not the slightest sense of missing out on anything. The game was a freebie via AMD rewards for buying their stuff and I am very glad I got it because it's not something I would have picked myself but am now hooked. It's a visual masterpiece and it's easy to see why AMD chose it to showcase their HW.

Just to be sure in case anybody hasn’t mentioned it but is OP aware that Dell/Alienware PCs are full of proprietary parts that don’t play well with wider standard parts. They can be really petty about this. I’ve learned this the hard way a few times

I’d argue that if you don’t know what you are doing it might be far better to just get a new case.

I agree a standard case isn't even that dear too. You can spend €60 or less on a decent case.
