Driving day round trip Sligo to Ennistymon. Google maps says R460 from Gort...but continuing on M18 to Ennis then N85 looks better road.

Not in mad rush, want easier drive unless huge time difference.

Any advice please? Thanks in advance

Stay on motorway to Junction 12.

Take the ring road around Ennis to Lahinch road.

Longer but better road for longer.

If you plan on taking the coast road back via Kinvarra to Galway take your time.

Its a reasonable road with tourists.

As An Rothar says stick to the M18 to N85 Signage on Gort to Ennistymon is mostly miss.Much quicker route via M18.Prob a lot of coaches via Kinvara even this time of year.

Motorway is easier, but I travel this journey often enough and I find the cross country route quicker. It's better fun too.

The best way to go Gort to Ennistymon is Gort - Kinvarra - Ballyvaughan - Fanore - Doolin - Liscannor - Lahinch - Ennistymon. Assuming time is not an issue.

    The easiest is M18 - N85

And the shortest is Gort - Corofin - Ennistymon

Thanks for responses. Took advice here, used M18 then N85. Grand journey, return trip not too tiring.
