Dedicated oil burner for garden room

I am building a garden room. One open space about 6m x 8m.

It is going to be insulated and needs a good heating system.

Due to being quite distant from house, I'm thinking an oil burner of its own might be an idea.

No running water required in the room but mains supply is there.

With an outdoor burner, will there be much internal plumbing to accommodate? As space is critical.

I also want to avoid the need for an expansion tank but I think that OK with closed systems

The only function needed is to heat about 3 rads.

Would not check the mobile home small diesel heaters.

Vevor do some good value models. Easy install, low fuel burn and good output. Grand stuff for occasional use.

It needs a full heating system, programmable and safe and will be running an hour or 2 most days.

I am open to options though.

There's people heating garden workshops bigger than yours with these. Very safe and without the need for radiator installs. You can add a radiator to the exhaust portion so it acts as a heat sink.

Just a thought because the rooms not that big and you said there was a running water questionable and you didn't want a tank.

Risking it ? Their portable diesel burners used on campers for over a decade. It's not really a risky click thing tbh.

I'm talking about routing the exhaust into a rad internally and all that messing. That's just asking for trouble as the rad rots-out and then leaks...

Water supply is available right at the garden room to tap into. I'm just saying there is no requirement for running water in the garden room other than for supply for heating system.

I had a look at those camper diesel burners. It looks like the diesel flames out the end of the unit and the heat from that just ducted to the interior. Is that right?

No, the flame is kept in a burn-chamber and isn't vented into the room. Fins bring the heat out from the burn-chamber to the room air which is forced by a fan. There is an exhaust via a steel flex pipe which gets routed outside. I think that they are typically all room-sealed, so they pull in the air which they burn.

OK makes more sense but I'd be very nervous of that in an enclosed area.

I understand that it's room sealed but flexible pipes and exhausts wouldn't fill me with confidence. In any event, I don't think suitable for a good sized room.

I think the oil would be a good job, but you are getting into a lot of cost for such a small area. Between tank, boiler, pipework, radiators you are into possibly €6k there.

What about some of the modern electric radiators with on board room stat? Like these.

I should add that I will be able to pick up a boiler and tank for the price of a few pints.

What about a stove.

I put one in our garden room a few years back. Heats the whole place in no time.

Its only a small 5kw one but it does the job.

Or if you have solar - what about infrared panels? Couple of 600 watt ones might do the job.

Its a multi fuel stove. I ran the flue through the roof of the garden room.

It would appear to be a cheaper option anyway.

Might look at stoves, even gas possibly with the large cylinder placed externally.

I've looked into this a couple of times for heating a very large wooden shed. Its been too warm this winter to bother. My plan was to install the heater outside in its own blockwork box.
