As the title suggests which would be a better car BMW 4 Series or Merc CLA.

Both are automatic diesel and 2L engines

Both are similar price, the 4 Series is a year older and therefore has higher mileage.

    Any help is appreciated.

Are these both 4 door cars?

I would compare the CLA to a 2 series rather than a 4 series, and in Audi it would be an A3 competitor rather than an A5

So, in this case, like for like, the 4 series would be my preference by a long way.

Depends on how much extra mileage is on the 4 series to say which one is better value.

The 4 series is objectively a better car and a class above the CLA as the CLA competes with the 1/2 series cars while the 4 series is a coupe/liftback version of the 3 series. Substantially bigger car and usually better specced as standard. Service history is super important especially on the BMW diesels as can be prone to timing chain issues especially if oil hasn't been changed every 15k km or yearly.

This is just in general, post the ads to get specific advice.

    I'd get the 4 series.

    The CLA isn't a proper Mercedes anyway - FWD + 4 Cyclinders

For the vast majority of people, it doesn't matter which wheels are driven or how many cylinders it has etc.

But you will pick up in the huge gulf in interior quality as the CLA while dressed well has an awful lot of cheap plastics and a fugly tablet with massive borders slapped on the dash.
