My son really wants to go and see The Smile. The thing is he will be 12 at the time of the gig and I notice

it says 14+ for standing. I will be with him of course.

Does anyone know do they police this strictly? He is 5' 10'', and would easily pass for 14. Seated tickets are the guys

of twice the price.

He'll be grand. 14 year olds don't usually have any form of official ID so the venue won't be able to police that rule.

It is about maturity though. If you think he's old enough to be able to stand for 3 hours and not get bored or start to annoy the other concert goers around him then go for it

Yeah, He likes Radiohead, The Smile, Bowie and so on. Make its very easy to bring him to things. I think I'll chance it.

I'd agree you'll be fine if you think he'll pass (and presumably you have a good poker face if asked 😉)

But, if you were worried, I'd say you'll get seated tickets for the same price nearer the event. The ones left are "platinum", which is just Ticketmaster code for ripoff, they'll reduce those to standard price if they don't sell. Plus there might be resale ones. Worth keeping an eye on it if that was your preferred option

Proper seated tickets will go on sale eventually at normal prices.

standing ticket sales have been bad for this so they’ve disabled the seats until more standing are sold as it looks bad to have barely anyone in standing area.

It rarely does but this show is a disaster ticket sales wise. Too big of a venue for a side project.
