Can I claim for tax relief for more than 4 years ago

A colleague told me I can claim tax relief on health insurance premiums that were paid by my employer as a benefit in kind.

He also said I can claim for the last 4 years on the revenue website.

But can claim up to 7 years back by phoning them.

Is that true?

I was surprised but he said he previously worked on the IT systems for the revenue so he knew.

No. Also ensure you are following the correct process when filing/amending your tax returns for the last 4 tax years.

99.9% certain it's limited to 4 years.

Thanks for confirming and for the link to revenue’s guidance on tax relief on health insurance premiums.

I am definitely eligible to claim as it had tax applied as a benefit in kind.

Will claim for my children’s and wife’s premiums also as the policy is split 4 ways.

If your employer paid for your children and wife's part of the policy, then yes. If they only paid for you, then no.

Yes they paid for the full policy which includes all 4 of us.

Laya have provided me with the tax certificate and breakdown of premiums
