Sheep Slats on concrete floor

I bit the bullet this evening and bought very good second hand slats. Only used for 2 seasons on 4x2 timber and 2x1.5 slats after paying €50 for round bales of straw

what depth would i need to put them in at for wintering sheep for 2 months/8 week period?

has anyone ideas for resting slats on. seen lads putting them on 12" twin wall drainage pipe, any pros cons ?

don't like the idea of lifting blocks out of skiter every year

Hope you have well chopped silage to feed your ewes while there on them or you'll be spending alot of time scraping.Most lads seem to use cavity blocks to put them on

I have. I have duel purpose slats in another shed under 4ft tank & no issues.

Would 10 inches be enough for 8 weeks?

I’d have to put silage into walk through troughs & don’t want a ramp too steep

I have some set on old 6by 3s that are resting on blocks. It’s only a small area but works grand.

9" high is plenty. Half 6"blocks and put in corners of slats. 4 corners can rest on each half block

Both, it was a sloped concrete floor and I levelled it up,(within reason)
