Tesla M3 Highland Performance v BYD Seal AWD

If Tesla are planning, as per some news reports, to have the performance version of the Model 3 Highland priced 30% above the standard version, what performance must it have to outsell the BYD Seal AWD, priced at approx €51k?

This is a question to which I am waiting patiently to hear the answer. Time will tell but the Seal is already priced similarly to the Model 3 Long Range.

Well the current LR is faster than the Seal AWD after the initial 0-30 and the current Model 3 Performance is faster than the seal AWD too so the new M3P, if the rumours are true should be sub 3 seconds to 60.

But, BYD don’t market the Seal AWD as a “Performance” so could they have something up their sleeve by way of a performance model? That will be interesting.

The new M3P needs better supporting seats at a minimum IMO. It should have the current track pack as standard (better pads, brake fluid and the club sport tyres).

But I’d say it will be a €60k car.

I'm undecided as to what I'm buying yet. Both are contenders, as is the Model Y given current pricing.

No idea how you are so sure of what I am, or am not, buying.

Would be top of the list if they were to price it such that the grant was available. However, if it were priced that low, surely the variants below it would need to drop significantly.

I suppose because your waiting till the most 'performance' car comes out that's slightly more 'performey' than the last one buy you're throwing a Y into that mix. Call me cynical but it sounds like tyre kicking. 🫢

I don't need a vehicle until June as I'm driving a work vehicle until then. In the meantime, I'm weighing up the options whilst also being of the opinion that further price cuts are coming.

Proving my point you've no idea what you're buying or not. Tyre kicking fine btw. But why concentrate on performance in your opening post if it's really just low cost ya want. Hone that in you'll get better outcome.

I love performance but I also like value for money, which is where nothing currently beats the Model Y in my opinion.

A Model Y for value and practicality and a classic ICE vehicle has been considered from time to time. Is that okay with you or am I not permitted to think like this?
