    Hi Folks

Looking for some information, help, guidance or whatever.

When an Athletics club registers someone, be it an adult or juvenile, how much for each do they have to pay to Athletics Ireland. What are their charges? Can't really find any information on it online.

And then outside of any insurance for their track, what would be the general costs an Athletics Club would incur?

Last registration fee for AI was €20.

Costs are going to vary wildly from club to club. If they have a track, they will also have maintenance costs. Hurdlers, sprinters, field eventers will all have equipment requirements, and these all need to be mainained and stored. Some clubs employ coaches. Some clubs cover entry costs to all county/provincial/national races. Some clubs have a substantial social side to them. There's loads of potential costs.

In conjunction to the above there is also an affiliation fee that has to be paid to Athletics Ireland before you can register or renew any members for the year, that fee for 2024 is 150 euro. Some counties have an affiliation fee per athlete that is required to be paid to the county board. For example in Kerry that fee is 6 euro for 2024. So if you had 300 athletes registered in your club for 2023 the county board has to be paid 6 euro for each of those athletes.

Other costs include courses, such as child safe guarding and coaching courses that are mandatory for volunteers to complete depending on their roles with the club. For insurance purposes, to officially coach you must have completed an Athletics Ireland coaching course. If travel is required for the coaching course, then clubs may cover some mileage/food/accommodation for the person to be able to attend the course. Some clubs host annual award nights where athletes are given a token (medal/plaque) to recognise their achievements competing for the club in the previous season.

Loads of costs and in addition to membership fees/training fees/grants the majority of clubs have to raise additional funds via methods such as road races and to try attract sponsorship. Competition entries are a big cost and clubs have different policies on those whether the club pays or the athlete pays.
