Does anyone know what happened to the website discussion forum thepropertypin.ie?

It was a great place to discuss houses for sale, advice for buying and selling etc ?

Now it's "Ireland under Invasion" posts ?

Anyone know of a replacement website?

Sorry it's taken so long to get back to you but thanks for the reply.

Pity it was great to find out everything about Irish property.

Boards.ie is not in great shape either. Numbers are down. Less active. Old moderators power tripping and banning if you question left orthodoxy like that on trans

Property Pin is also quite odd on Twitter. Similar views to what you posted.

Factoring in the overall internet trends impinging on forums performance since the mid 00's onwards nothing happened to the pin of great note other than a move to a superior platform in many respects circa 2019, of course someone will surely come along and say that is incorrect.

If people want post about property they can but it was never set up as a "property" forum, it was essentially a SPV (to borrow the future NAMA adventures) in that it was a creative intervention using fairly off the shelf (at the time) software in an timely effort to allow more focus to help everyone get better information i.e. the truth, so they could make better decisions in the "property market" (mainly avoid negative equity!!!!) and in aggregate hopefully mitigate and survive the super negative bust to come, by allowing again, focused and open discussion of the property bubble, which was covered only in dogmatic [MENACE] media terms and the usual sidelining of the true potential for cataclysmic consequences that could and actually did befall Ireland and it's people, and look where things are today.

In many ways it is in better shape than it has ever been. All the original content is fully accessible. In forum and sub-forum to beat the band. The search functionality is pretty good and awesome compared to what phpBB offered users.

A great Irish based site for information about buying, selling homes, insurance etc but strictly moderated, no speculation on house prices.

This is a valid point and it has been the broad trend on the net for forums as a whole and it seems to have got started around 2010 give or take a few years before and after, and is in no way unique to boards.ie. One obvious example (and there are many) is when Google removed the discussion button.

The impact of that alone was massive for existing forums of the internet.

Is the AAM ban on discussing house prices still in place, you have to be jokin'?

I believe so, but if you have general questions about buying and selling, as per the question in the OP, it is an alternative.
As you say, Property Pin is not a 'property' forum.

    Horses for courses.

Fascinating, well the pin retains the heavy lifting capacity to this day to also be able to discuss property prices, not just property.

In fairness the pin continues to greatly evolve in greatness.

So much so that you can recreate a very tangible sense of the past by removing categories that for whatever reason overly offend your refined sensibilities by muting categories and/or muting tags this removes their appearance in your latest feed, you really can re-create a 2006-ish version of thepropertypin.com in 2025!

This is in part because user suggestions / requests wondered out loud if it was possible and eventually the ability to achieve it arrived to a decent enough level, and now a kind of duality exists where you have the pin vs thepropertypin - see here https://thepropertypin.com/categories

This will help you or anyone else who wants to ignore all the latest breaking invasion and IPAS news and all that other crazy stuff that has the greatest effect on property in Ireland since the mega-bubble and bust of 2006-2008 during the GFC and experience none of it happening at'all at'all - Here is a quick guide on how to do just that.
