NCT Retest

My 2011 Kia Ceed failed NCT 2 weeks ago. It's due in for retest tomorrow. The car failed on poor tyre thread, bulb missing and handbreak issue (handbreak needed tightened) I brought to mechanic on Thursday and it was apparently all fixed. Friday I noticed this light appeared. It's a priblem with traction. I had this problem last year apparently it was a priblem with sensor which was replaced.

Few questions:

Would fixing the handbreak have caused this issue?

Will this light cause a retest failure?

I think if your car usually has yellow for advisory warnings vs red for urgent you might be fine.

I had a yellow warning light on my Qashqai for something (I can’t remember what) but yellow just meant “get it looked at” whereas if the same light was red it meant the thing was f’d and needed urgent repair. Passed NCT despite it so!

Airbag light, ABS light, Tyre pressure light and Engine light are all yellow lights that can cause failures.

Only the items that failed that can be tested for again, so therefore you cannot fail for this warning light. I’ve no idea if adjusting the handbrake could cause it to appear tho.

Not on the qashqai anyway. Engine and some other stuff had a yellow “advisory” light and a red “warning” light.

yellow = something needs checking

red = something is fcuked and needs fixing

this was according to the manual so!

Engine light is not a failure on petrol engined cars unless it changed lately.

ABS light = Fail on all cars

Airbag light = Fail on all cars

Tyre pressure light = Fail on 2014+ cars

Engine light = Fail on diesel cars only

ah I see it’s only a fail on engine light for diesel, I must have mistaken then the yellow “advisory” is for the engine light cos it 100% says yellow is get it checked and red is get it fixed 🤣

even says if red do not drive it to garage have it towed

Engine light will not even give you an advisory on a petrol car. Must have been something else.

I presume your vehicle has an Traction Control System switch & you have toggled in on & off to see whether it clears the warning light.

It is yellow for minor faults and red for major faults on Qashqai.

No. Read my post. All the lights I listed are yellow lights

That’s a traction control light. Turn the traction control back on and it will go off. You must have been doing “the burnouts”.

Just a update for those who's interested. I brought the car to mechanic he plugged in diagnostic computer and it was a sensor problem he replaced the 4 pin sensor and car flew through
