Red brick alternative

Meself

Just bought a bag of red brick from Square Mile Coffee in UK.

Have to say it the nicest coffee I've tasted. Comes from UK so bit pricy with postage .

Does any coffee come close here in ireland or anywhere else which might be bit easier on the pocket ?

Have you tried 3fE, Badger and Dodo, CoffeeAngel or Bailies?

Yeh tried the first two places. Their coffees were just ok. Will try the last two. Any recommendations?

What about Cloudpicker? I find their blends are fairly good value for money. Roasted the same week you get delivered. I prefer Sam over Henry but both are good price to quality wise. They do plenty of esoteric stuff too if want to splash out. Carrow roasters are also very good.

Red Brick and Sweetshop from SMC is avail from Vice on Abbey St, Dublin also, to avoid high shipping costs. Just an FYI. I'd suggest looking at their instagram page for when they have freshly roasted beans.

Think Roasters choice was one.. got few bags over few months. Can't remember the others. Was few yrs back

I like a good strong coffee. Just found them a bit meek. Was ordering from place in Germany for a yr but want to go more local

Strong... Strong is often a measure of how darkly roasted a coffee is or how much robusta is in there. What does strong mean for you?

Dark roasts contain less caffeine per gram than lighter roasts, the process burns off some of the caffeine. (I know you know this Mr Mag)

Yeh.. I've been trying to figure that out. I've a Niche grinder and sage bambino +. i was trying some of the lighter bean but it did nothing for me. Maybe it was the bambino not up to task with lighter roasts. I'm still on a journey this last few yrs with it all.

Can be fun, can be frustrating with so many variables. When I get a good bag it's like gold !

I've had dark beans which tasted, well,burnt and oily.

Cula bula. It's years since I tried the Red Brick and I had to refresh myself on their website but it's blended and roasted specifically for espresso extraction as you know so I'd stay away from single origins which are mostly roasted for filter coffees from the recommended providers above as they're not going to have that strong flavour your looking for.

The 3fe IRFU Blend is all washed coffees, same as the Red Brick so might be worth a punt to start with... https://shop.3fe.com/product/irfu-blend
