Rough cost to rewire house

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out a rough budget to rewire a house we are about to purchase, house was built in 1970, doesn't appare to have any new wireing done since then.

Its a 3 bed terraced house roughly 76m2

1 Light fitting per room, want to keep it that way with maybe 1 more added in the Kitchen

Every room has a 1 double socket bar the kitchen which has 3, I want 1 extra double socket added to each room and the wireing to be chased down the wall, sockets are currently at low level and sticking out from the wall, would much rather moved up a bit and situated within the wall

If there is any more information you think I need to get let me know.

Any guidance would be greatly appriciated

If your going to rewire it , don’t be penny pinching, put a good spec into it , the days of one socket per room are gone ,

mains smoke alarms,tv and data cables , down lights , alarm , heating controls,outside lights ,car charger cable , solar cable , cable to shed ,

budget 12-14k for a decent job

For everything you have listed there, that seems an incredibly reasonable price, I have heard just a basic rewire is about 11-12k, I assume that is incorrect?

Depends on your location, I’m located in the west , obviously prices will rise due to location

Shouldn’t get into that for what you describe. 6-8k would seem more like it.

I done a similar house many years ago, it cost me 7k to do everything, bring up to standard, lower the light switch's(which have to be done now for wheel chairs)

SO I would expect that it would be close to double now, 12-14k seems about right
