New EV car charger broke the Esb Meter Box .... NO INSULATION

So I got a new EV car charger and the tech broke the Esb Meter box

There is a great big hole below and there is no insulation in the cavity block. Does this mean I have no insulation in the wall.

To MOD please move if this is the wrong place

That's a cavity block. You can't get insulation into a cavity block.

Your house is most likely insulated internally.

Measure the thickness of your walls and post here with the result please

Looks like the same crappy 80s construction as my house. Breeze blocks, with a hint of fibreglass insulation between timber battens and a plastic moisture barrier on the inside. On my house the insulation didn't even fill the full width of the space between the battens, the roll was about two inches short on both sides. No wonder the house was freezing. Ripped it all out and insulated internally with 50mm kingspan between the battens, taped and sealed and then new plaster board and a skim. Made a massive difference in heat in the house.

This exactly but semi D house thrown up in 1999 in the mad building rush.

A few years ago the neighbour's central heating pipe burst in the kitchen. Plumbers pulled off the dry lining over the battens and the insulation was about 1/2 inch thick and loose. Battens were 4" deep.

The internal walls are cavity with internal 4" battens, F all insulation and lined with 11mm gypsum skimmed. Semi D built 1999

Should I plug that gap with spray foam ?

Should I replace ESB box?

judging by the black cobwebs covering everything that hole in your esb meter box has been there a very long time

When you say broke the meter box? where? that hole looks like it has been there for a long time, where are the supposed new connections that required anyone to go near this? it doesnt even loo like anyone went near that part, do you have a before picture? what makes you think they broke it?

for a new smart meter installation the three cables are unscrewed from the old meter the old meter removed from the chipboard the new meter screwed in its place and the three wires reattached to the new meter they wouldn't go anywhere near the bottom of the cabinet where your hole is . the car charger would have been wired into the distribution/fuse board inside the house as it defiantly is not in the picture that you posted

Why was the tech at your meter cabinet?

Would they not have wired it directly to the Consumer Unit? Where they have wired directly to meter cabinets, it usually contains a sub board which I don’t see in that picture.

I'd leave the meter box as is tbh.

I would however start your planning on insulation all the external walls internally. Can do room by room to keep costs lower over period of time. But long and short the house will cost alot to heat in its current form and won't be comfortable

wow a spelling mistake defiantly instead of definitely is that all you could latch on to, the rest of the post stands. see you have put up full picture with old meter , with old damage but still no picture of new install with the alleged new damage
