Just wondering for the uneducated ( like myself ): Is Thai Massage in Dublin some kind of brothel / red light thing?

If they advertise the nationalities of the staff then yes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,151 ✭✭✭✭Calahonda52

Most but not all are Thigh Massage, with the extras costing more unless its priced in at the beginning: you can tell by the pricing.

However first time out they may limit it to Thai as you maybe a member of AGS, who also run a lot of them

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

It's usually considered sensible to start questions like this with; "Asking for a friend..."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

I would presume, you're paying for a Thai Massage a certain price, and the rest is sort of "priced in". So it not legally prostitution?

Somebody will be along (me) to tell us that it is pronounced Tie.

I think someone should do some practical research into this important question and discuss their findings here .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

I was just curious. I am not planning to sleep with a prostitute. However I've always wondered, if Thai Massage would actually be a way to offer sex, but in reality sell a massage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,256 ✭✭✭T-Maxx

Don't be silly no-one sleeps with them - it's way too dear when they're on an hourly rate. You get the happy ending and you're out of there, you can sleep in your own bed.

As was said they give you an all body massage including a happy ending which is a handjob with the oils.

    Had one once.

After a long, thorough full body massage she asked me straight if i would like a **** now. I said yes please.

She said "ok i'll be back in a minute" and walked out of the door.

About five minutes later, the door openbed. She popped her head in and said " finiushed yet ?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

And I really thought that they would offer something "real more" as part of the massage. But then again, I was just curious to ask the question.

It might feel different if it's someone other than you doing it for a change.

Everything is not priced in.But for the basic massage you will be paying for a house build in Thailand which must be at least 4 stories high to impress the neighbours about how well you are doing in Ireland. That will cost the client in Ireland.Any extra payments covers the latest Toyota SUV.After that you start building for the bros, sisters cousins depending on your personal choices.Someone has to pay and plenty of suckers in Ireland.Prostitution it is

If any of the staff are ping-pong champions you love them long time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,508 ✭✭✭Hamsterchops

I presume it involves getting your thighs massaged 😅

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,198 ✭✭✭ruth...less

What is a Thai massage? Like what is different about it?

I've never had a professional massage. I want to get one but my aunt practically got bet up during a Turkish massage thing. She'd bruises and everything 😳😂 turned me off going.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

I don't know it either. It could be a certain kind of massage, and could be different to a Turkish massage. It could also be that it is performed by a Thai or a Turk? Or a Thai massage is just another description of something sexual, - which I suspected, but was apparently wrong.

    Prostitution with plausible deniability.

A mate was raving about them to me and I'll admit, I was tempted for curiosity's sake but the thought of being seen walking in or out of one of the places and the holy mortifying shame it would bring brought me to my senses.

If someone says they are going for a Thai Massage, is it assumed that it's sexual?

Are Thai Massage places like buildings down back alleys or are they like modern looking spas?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,465 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

I've had plenty of Thai Massages in Dublin and each and every one of them was a Thai massage, sometimes by a native from Thailand, sometimes not. Majority are women, but not all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭Mister Vain

No. I've had a few in Celbridge. Its beside the pharmacy. Have you never tried a bit of deep penetration massage?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,198 ✭✭✭ruth...less

No..do they do them in Celbridge?

    Asking for a friend 😛😂

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

Some of them seem to be in older shabby looking buildings where you'd expect people to work for poor pay and are exploited foreigners. At least in Dublin that is. I expected that you would pay for the massage, and get sex instead, as prostitution is illegal you're paying for the one and then getting the other....

I also thought that a Thai massage would be some form of sexual practice, like first you'd get a massage, and then later on, it would be sex.

Thai massages are fantastic and non-sexual. Oil massages are something different and are often sexual but are a different thing completely, although both may be offered in the same establishment. A Thai massage is a deep muscle massage where the masseuse uses her hands, elbows, heels of her hand to massage your body and also her feet sometimes on your back. You normally need (at least I used to anyway) go a few times as the first time I always found I was too tense and couldn't really relax enough to allow the masseuse fully manipulate my body. Once you get to fully trust the masseuse you can just basically let them do what they want and come out feeling absolutely fantastic after having all tension removed from your muscles and joints.

    Thanks for clearing this up.

I really thought it was something sexual, like a massage as a sexual foreplay, later on, she would ride me or something like that.

Some of the Thai massage places in Dublin are in such old buildings, often run down looking it also makes you think, something more or less dodgy is going on there. Sometimes there is a red-pink neon light, also contributing to certain ideas.

I would avoid a Thai massage if you aren't used to massages. They use their elbows, knees and even walk on you to get deep into your muscles. It's more like yoga almost and involves a lot of stretching, and you're fully clothed the whole time. It's not one where you lie there and they massage you with oil. That's a legit one anyway, not sure about the ones in the op lol

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,217 ✭✭✭Mister Vain

Are they usually fully clothed? The ones I've been to I was just in my boxers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,465 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

The only time I ever had a Thai Massage fully clothed was in a training centre in Bangkok and that was for the obvious reason of being in public.

Every single other time its stripped down to underwear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,586 ✭✭✭newmember2

Where I went they'd give you these really long, really loose fitting shorts kinda thing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,559 ✭✭✭ceadaoin.

I was told to wear loose, comfortable clothing when I had one in the caribbean, and that's what my local spa also advises on the services menu. I just googled it and that's what it says on most results too. The person is on top of you at times, is that not awkward if you're wearing just underwear? 😱

Not awkward at all. Unless you get a boner of course. Surely skin on skin with some oils feels better?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,465 ✭✭✭✭GreeBo

on top of you means walking up your back while they hold onto a rope or handrail on the ceiling....its certainly uncomfortable, but not in the way you are thinking.

They will often give you an eye patch or small bean bag to place over your eyes while you are face up, so you cant really see what they are doing or how they are doing it.

An example "position" would be where they are pulling your feet towards them with both of their hands yet somehow pushing your inner thigh away...then you realise that one of those hands is actually a foot.

I walked by a Thai massage place in Dublin last evening. On the window there was also a neon sign with a heart, shining in pink colour. It's that which I interpret it to be a hidden brothel, or somebody offering sexual favours, rather than a real real massage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,070 ✭✭✭✭greenspurs

Ok.. If thats what you keep hinting at - Just go to the brothel then !! 🙄

The places i have been, massages were done with me naked with a towel used and moved to cover places ...

The massages can be full thai (ouch) or a bit more relaxing - you can usually say which you prefer.

    is this for real?

I go for a Thai massage about 3-4 times a year, I used to go every month.

They are professional and give similar body benefits as yoga.

You can tell them how deep you want them to go, the harder the better for me, so I go early in the morning, when I think they are fresher.

I've never been offered any sexual extras. Ive gone in Killarney, upstate New York, Cork, Galway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,915 ✭✭✭tinytobe

It has been explained to me several times and now I know.

But in the end, what was I to think? - if I don't ask the question.

I see a red-ish-pink neon light in some run down street or a house which could be in a better condition. And "Thai" automatically has a certain stigma with certain things in the country, plus "massage", - depends on "what they massage" - the next thought.

And one thought leads to another, - but uncertainty lingered, this is why I posted this thread.
