I don't know about the rest of ye but since the site changed to the new internet provider thingie I've notice a number of threads generated by posters that don't have much posting history on Boards let alone F&F. When you look at their profile they registered in 2008/2010/2015 etc but only have two/three/five posts over those years!!!

In most cases the OP that started the post never replies back to the helpful and pertinent comments that are posted and eventually the thread fades into the background. I also note that most of these threads are posted coming into the weekend.

I made a similar comment last year on another random post and was criticised for doing so by a regular F&F poster who posted that he was hitting the "ignore" button on my profile 😲

I wonder is there something going on with interweb techie stuff like AI (not semen), internet Bots, etc that is infiltrating F&F to generate post counts/comments ???

We have a great community here on F&F and it pisses me off that some may take advantage of it.

I was thinking recently that this place is gone v quiet. Are posters gone to a different forum?

I was also thinking this over Christmas.

There was a few days with nothing posted in the general chat thread, seems very quiet recently.

Not as many consistent posters, lads/lasses post and then don't post for a month

Feels like they're had been a decline in the number of posts/threads on actual farming topics. General threads seem to tick along okay.

However, I have noticed on another farming forum that I visit that there is not much traffic either.

It's at the stage now where I consider whether I'd get a suitable response to a farming related topic on here or maybe post it on the other forum.

There are real life trolls who start threads just to stir up trouble, possible they are revisiting old accounts to stir up more.

There are also some bot accounts, but there is usually something strange in the language they use.

I've always thought that those threads are created by the Execs in boards.ie just to keep the place ticking along.

Took a bit hit when they changed over that time. Lads lost accounts, the search feature went from bad to hopeless and useless. You can't find forms or old posts. You have to go out of the site and try and search via google to find anything that's how bad it is. Then we had far too much moderation for a long time and a lot of regulars got sick for being banned for the smallest thing. From what I can tell the Farming form is about the only really active form on boards, the other forms go for months without a word.

I must say I find F&F on boards.ie my favourite go to place to relax for downtime .The search back on old posts is excellant even if some were lost along the way .I started a job in the c.s. a few months back and I got every bit of detail of the job from the application ,job requirements ,interview questions all from the work & jobs forum here on boards .I also use farming forum which has a few overlapping posters and both forums are a credit to their moderators and faciliators .

Something that turns me off on f&f in the dairy thread. There's a few on that thread and it's utterly depressing listening to the same auld bitterness and bashing, blaming the government, the greens and belittling Eamon ryan . It seems they have someone to blame for everything. I'd find half the debate on dairying is useful and the other half a waste . A Gaa thread I follow on boards died a death when one particular poster constantly attacked others who dared to have a different opinion to his , it went from a daily read to hardly a post a week, I gave up contributing as well as it was sickening dealing with the attacks. So my point is , a bit of patience and a little respect might encourage more

I think the tone has changed somewhat on F&F in the last year or so and imo not for the better. There is nothing wrong with a good debate as long as posters are respectful of one another and don't revert to throwing slights or insults either personally or about their farming enterprise be it beef, sucklers, dairy, etc. I think that Twitter is responsible for a lot of it. I have a twitter account but it's like a cesspool with every Tom, Dick and Harry spouting what ever comes out of their derriere.

Site and this forum lost nearly all momentum round the time of that changeover. It must have been a shocking disaster of a project. I’d love to see a graph of the visits/posts leading up to and since.

id check here few times a week but it has gone weeks between visits.

Site as a whole is just getting quieter and quieter, hard to watch but not sure what can be done about it.

Most of what posters say to each other on here , would be OK to say face to face. But you're right about twitter, it is poison. One would wonder how they think its OK to say the things they say about people eg Leo , Ryan Tubridy . It's a platform for cowards and headbangers

If there's over 20 posts on the dairy thread since I've last been on I dont bother with it.

I think the problem might be a change in how people view content on their phones. You have to read everything here. There’s so many guys on YouTube and other places where short videos are taking over. That wasn’t there 5 years ago. One video leads to the next. It’s similar on other website forums that I frequent.

Tik tok for me is my go to sit down for 10min that ends up an hour, its those short clips that suits some people with low levels of consecration probably have a bit of adhd or whatever they call it, rarely watch TV now and a little time on board's now but still like to have a look at the FF from time to time.
