    Am I being impatient expecting a BOI cheque to have cleared to my AIB account by now when it was lodged on Sat?

    it takes around 3 working days for a cheque to clear. If it was BOI to BOI it would clear instant or even AIB to AIB etc.

    Cheques are not electronic transactions. When you lodge a cheque from one bank at another it, it has to be "presented" at the other bank for payment. So it is partially a manual process and may take a couple of days to go through the process end to end. Depending on the client and the cheque, so banks may give you credit for it before it is actually fully processed.
