Need help picking a welder

Hi,

I have some small welding jobs to do at home, weld hinge on trailer, frame for gate, shelf brackets for garage, and some odd bits here and there. By the time I pay someone to weld it I'd have the welder paid for.

There are lots and lots of brands on the market. I'm looking for a stick welder (option for lift tig add on for stainless in the future seems interesting).

I've come across

Yeswelder on Amazon,

Sealy MW180 or 200 at local shop

Pacini 190 or 220 from IGE

Stealth 175A online.

Only want to spend max 200-300euro.

Any idea what is best option to go with?

Whichever way you go, be sure to get one of this type of holder as the one that usually come as std, are junk and will wreck your head

No bother I actually bought the 160amp Jefferson welder that you recommended on that thread and it runs OK on the generator I have also a jefferson. I had emailed jefferson before that just to get their opinion with its compatability.

The 140amp jefferson you recommended on that thread I looked at in store. Runs off a 13amp 3 pin plug so I'd be guessing it must be decent enough to run on house/garage electrics.

Overall can't complain with the welder it's very good and very durable. One thing I'll say OP is buy good brand welding rods. Makes all the difference in welding.

If you decide to buy some of those cheaper brands on amazon they usually don't put out the amps they say they do and if they come with a 3 pin plug check the fuse as their known for having a piece of copper in it instead of a fuse.

As for parweld mentioned above I wouldn't darken the door with anything parweld personally.

Yeah, +1 on the rods. The 160amp I used ran fine on a 13a plug too - General bit of advice - you don't want grinding/cutting dust being sucked into the welder while the fan is running - metal dust and PCBs don't get on at all

Thanks everyone, it's hard to not consider the Pacini welder at €109, but I think I'm going to go with a SWP Stealth 175A welder.

I have a Jasic inverter welder, great machine, haven't tested it too hard but it's well built and I bought it on the recommendation of a friend who is a farmer and had high praise for it.

Nice, especially 5 year warranty. I just won't have the work for it.

Read ALL the bad reviews then check the model number that one looks like old old stock and no longer made.

Thanks, I'll forget about it. I'll probably stick with that SWP stealth that has decent warranty.
