Have any women taken Viagra or generic Sildenafil? What effects if any did it have?

    I understand how Viagra works, that it has the physical effect of sending increased blood flow to the genitals in both men and women. I also understand that the use of Viagra by women is off-label.

    I’d like to know if any women here have taken Viagra and how it affected them. Did the increased blood flow to the vulva and vagina result in stronger or easier-to-achieve orgasms?

    Now that Viagra Connect is available over the counter I’m so tempted to give it a shot for the craic. But it would be nice to hear of other women’s experiences first.

    Hi,

    I am female and sexually active; I was prescribed Sildenafil (Viagra) some time ago for Raynauds disease (causes poor circulation and numbness in the extremities - fingers and toes for me). I can guarantee that it has had no effect on my sex life etc. It doesn't have that effect in women and if it does its poorly understood/documented. My prescription is off license as its not for what its intended.

    Viagra is expensive (at approx €5 a pill)

    There is a pill for women (sometimes called female Viagra) called called flibanserin (Addyi) to treat low sexual desire in women. It isn't licensed in Ireland or the UK - unlike Viagra it works on the brain and not the blood flow.
