Hybrid LNB question

Hi

Previously I had a FTA combo box after getting rid of Sky +

Then Sky rang back with a great offer to join them again and we did.

So we got Sky Q.

When the installer came I asked him to install a hybrid LNB and he said he would.

The Sky contract is nearly up and I am looking to go back to FTA.

When I connected up the FTA box today and did a scan on Astra 28.8 E (I think) all I got where a number of odd stations like GOD TV, or Punjab Today, or shopping channels selling holidays etc.

And not many, only about 50.

No BBC, ITV, etc.

Did the installer really install a hybrid LNB or am I looking in the wrong place for my channels?

You are missing a few bits of vital information. How long have you had Sky q? What is the make and model of the fta box? Can you see the dish to check how many outputs on LNB?

Take a pic if you can of the lnb.

In the earlier days the hybrid LNB used had six outputs and any could be used for sky q or FREE TO AIR but later they had designated outputs 2 for sky q and the rest for FTA

Sky Q was installed just under 2 years ago.

FTA box is an Optimus OS 3 Plus.

Here is a picture of the LNB.

We had Sky Multiroom installed way back 17 years ago so that probably accounts for the third output from the LNB.

Where is the 3rd output cable going to - kitchen bedroom ?

Can you hook up the fta box there and do a scan.

I plugged in the FTA box into the old multiroom outlet and it was coming back with noting, 0% scanned 0 channels found.

I check the signal and it looked good, see attached.

We got rid of the multiroom years ago but that outlet was still working with the same FTA box in the years before we got Sky Q

I would change the lnb. On the thread I linked, they got one from screwfix and bingo. Can you reach the dish easy? A wideband LNB can have 4 outputs as well.

I still have the old LNB.

The Sky installer threw it on the grass when he was replacing it, I found it a few days later.

There is a local guy who does sat installations etc , I'll get him to replace it when it's time.
