Am looking at changing the car, the two we have are each over 13 years old and beginning to need frequent repairs.

Have an absolute upper budget of circa 30k, big investment for us.

Want a car that we will keep forever

Average mileage, must be 5 seater

Any advice re type of car and is the next 3 months a good time to buy?

You're gonna need to provide a lot more information e.g avg milage per week, what will it be used for, family/dogs/both, preferred spec or features. You're looking for the million dollar answer without giving the question.

Depends on what you call average mileage and also are you doing short / city trips or long runs and not stopping / starting

is it 30k as well as your existing cars ??

30k is a lot of money, why dont you just keep the existing cars?

Ok, will be keeping one of existing cars for my short daily commute. 30k including small trade in value of 2nd existing car.

New car will be used for day to day and family trips - main car for household. 140 km per week town driving, short trips mainly. 80km slightly longer trips per week. Down the country 300km round trip at least once a month. 18000km per year approx.

30k is a lot of money but need a car that is reliable as over last 4 years there have been frequent repair bills, cars physically showing their age too at this stage but have served us well.

A Skoda Octavia or a Toyota Corolla is where you need to be looking I think. Both very well built reliable cars.

    A Mazda 3 maybe.

Citroen C4 might be in your budget too.

A few for you to research and check out anyway or if you wanted electric an MG4 would be in your budget I think.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Looking at electric, I would suggest 2019/20 Kona 64kWh. Range over 400km. Charge with night rate electricity.
