That link you posted suggests a Garda used legal Garda powers to get info for personal reasons.

It is not a data breach but a misuse of legal powers. And according to that link, they are going after the commissioner

My issue is that somebody has used my son's done deal account and he can no longer login to Adverts. I had to change email address on Adverts to re-enable notifications. Just needed a Mod to explain any possible reason for this. Unauthorized access to my son's account is serious and worrying, especially when my original post disappeared, and no reason for that given .

Do you use the same passwords on multiple sites?

Lycamobile had a breach recently. Electric Ireland had one as well. These are admitted. God knows how many more.

Normal cause is reuse of passwords

They can explain why the post was nuked without an explanation which is happening a lot these days and was brought up before with no answers.

If you believe there was a data breach on adverts.ie, then there is a legal process you must follow when seeking redress and posting unsubstantiated claims in public is not it. Everyone including commercial entities are entitled to their good name and we, the mods, are not here to adjudicate on such matters, so you should not be surprised if such claims are deleted. Contact your solicitor who I'm sure will be happy to advise you on the correct process to follow.

I did not say there was a Data Breach. I simply asked if there had been one, and a yes or no answer would have done. I am trying to find out why notifications stopped working for me and why my son can no longer login on Adverts as well as an issue on Done Deal. I never get a reply from Adverts when I contact them. A reply would be welcome when an issue is raised.

As I have already said there is a legal procedure that must be followed if there is a data breach, refer to the Data Commission’s website. And now what it comes down to is a lack of notifications, an inability to log in and now a new tangent about Done Deal. None of these things are an indication of a data breach and if you’d asked factual questions about your issues you might have received useful answers rather that having you post removed.

And after hours is exactly that - trivia, not the place to go seeking help with a technical issue. This is a situation of your making.

It's no wonder the site is going to pot with mod responses like the above.
