Recommended set top box

Hi,

Looking for recommendations for a good set top box for parents. Satellite and terrestrial antenna connections. They currently have direct connection to TV but the problem is when switching between antenna and satellite they struggle as there are too many steps to switch over easily with the TV interface. Is there a good box that can show both channel sources on one "channel list" so for example if they were to press ch2 it would load rte2. If press 11 it could load "bbc1" etc. Also if the box could support Netflix, YouTube etc so they can ignore the TV interface altogether and just operate one remote for the sat box.

I came across the Ferguson ariva 9000. Does anyone have any experience with this box?

Comes from Germany so no extra taxes etc, combine sat + saorview on one channel list.

I don't have experience of that box but have had 2 Ferguson ariva boxes over many years and they are generally fine, probably one of the more popular mid range boxes. The box you referred to looks identical to the Walker branded box on sale in many retailers around the country, so it should be available locally. Looking at videos of the 9000 the UI looks identical to the Vestel/ Walker, Nordmende, Toshiba UI. Both are wifi, the Walker one says it has RTEplayer, doesn't mention other apps, whereas the Ferguson appears to have the usual Vestel apps.

Maybe persevere with the TV a bit further. If it is a LG there is advice on this thread on how to assign channels to a long press on remote buttons. And it mentions that voice command can be use to change channels. Whichever TV it is, it might be useful to research it further, including on Boards.

Unfortunately it's a Xiaomi TV on android with terrible live TV app. Does the dreambox or walker box have netflix support?
