    hello all.

Here is our cooker Flavel E50 - fan oven and top grill (not fan assisted)

Do you reckon we could cook the turkey in the Grill at the top there above the oven? - the dial has not got marks like 150'c it just has 1-5 (although numbers have nearly rubbed off!) the bottom oven does have a fan in it and has marks on the dial up to 250'c I think it is , but we kind of want to keep the bottom oven clear so we can cook the rest of the stuff in the bottom oven and just have the top oven free for cooking the turkey (small one what you get out of Aldi/Lidl for around 8euro)

Could it be done or are you just supposed to only use the top grill for toast etc?

    Thanks.

Its normally only a grill in there so I would imagine its not going to cook the turkey anywhere near as even as the oven will as the element is up over the turkey and with no fan assist only the top of the turkey would be cooking.

The grill is not an oven. It should only work when the door is open.

You can't cook a turkey in the grill. You can scorch or burn the top of it while the inside remains largely raw, though, if that's any help.

Wouldn't be a fan myself. Wahey... excuse the pun.

No you can't it will burn outside and food poison people inside

The element is in the wrong place Andy. The heat will only come from the top and you won't have the same heat at the bottom of the turkey as you will at the top. You'll be turning it non-stop and you won't be sure that it cooks all of the way through.

If the ham is taking up the bottom oven then could you not boil it the day before and then finish it off in the oven on Christmas day instead? It can then rest in the top-oven while the turkey cooks? Might reduce the effort somewhat.

Would have more luck with a BBQ rotisserie

eh ......you can't grill a whole turkey! The top "oven" is only a grill. I'm calling bullshit on this thread.

Our top oven is both a grill and an oven. The problem you have is height. Spatchcocking your turkey would get over that.

Good for you! The problem this eejit has is that he’s only a grill not an oven

Right. I’ll bite. Cook the turkey in the bottom oven. Once done, cover in tin foil and leave to one side. That’ll give you ample time (30 minutes) to cook anything else you need. Parboil root veg if you want to roast them. For roast potatoes you’ll have room for those anyway towards the end of the turkey coming time. Also look into the you can make ahead Christmas Eve and simply reheat.

It's a fair question around Christmas, no need to demonstrate your ignorance to the world. Happy Christmas.

Cover in tinfoil and cover that with a doubled over towel and the Turkey will be nice and hot for 60-90 mins.

loads of time to finish off the ham and do all the other roastie stuff
