Mystery part in Whirlpool dishwasher

I found this in the bottom of my whirlpool dishwasher recently and it's driving me nuts to figure out where it came from.

Anyone know what this is for?

    Thanks.

Well, bevesting is Dutch for "confirmation", so appears to be a locking ring which confirms or shows that it's installed (or locked?)... but for what, I don't know.

  • I think it may be a ring that secures the basket to the rail itself.

Well, for a start it's bevestiging not bevesting, and apart from that meaning it also means a fastening or attachment, so not much to go on really.

I found the part on a UK based website, for an equivalent Indesit model, which suggests it's a wheel or a fixing for a wheel for the "third" basket presumably the top cutlery drawer.

I'd take the cutlery basket out and see if there's anything obvious missing on the basket itself or the rails or where the rail fastens to the body of the dishwasher.

Thanks for all your comments everyone. I have tried all those suggestions and there is still nothing obvious missing. It could be right in front of me and I am missing it!

I think I'll call into the shop where we bought the dishwasher and ask to have a look into the display model to see if I can spot the difference between that and our own one!

If it's a new one, if could possibly be just something left in there accidentally during manufacture.
