Material to spot leaking for under boiler

Hello,

1. I have a air to heat pump and the boiler leaked
2. It has now been repaired
3. The floor underneath is damp but drying out

Question - Is there some sort of material I can put underneath to spot leaks easier in the future if they occur? Some online sites say just simple paper kitcken towels but would love some advice on how to spot leaks easier/quicker.

Not really, just newspaper.

Or a really daft idea would be to use kids "magic paint" book pages - you know the ones which just need to be painted over with water...?

You can get a water alarm in e.g. Amazon for about a tenner, that take a 9v battery. Used one for for an intermittent bath leak and washing machine leak and it worked a charm. Like a smoke alarm, but for water leaks. But your milage may vary. Won't work for tiny leaks.
