Au pair Termination Query

Hello All,

We currently have an au pair and it is not really working out, we have au pairs previously but this time there is a clash or personalities and we are not happy with performance, nothing changing, kids are not happy nor are we.

I want to hand her termination letter/2 weeks notice next week, this will give her a last day of 21st Dec and vacate property on 22nd Dec. Thing is she has booked flights home on 26th Dec already. We don't want to be mean, but we would like to have Christmas without her and just our kids and family, especially as she is basically fired, I cant see it being fun.

any thoughts? Am i being to ruthless.

Easiest solution may be to pay for a plane ticket home for her on the 21st Dec or even before - it may be a bit expensive but at least shes gone and her safety is not on your conscience. Expecting her to leave on the 22nd Dec with nowhere to go wouldnt be fair.
