I just watched this having been prompted by an online article

The enterprise gets caught in a causality loop. It meets another ship in a tear in the space time continuum. They crash and then the whole thing resets again and again.

Eventually feelings of de ja vu permeate the crew and they figure out they are in a loop.

They hear voices when nobody is there.

I don't want to spoil the plot in case others haven't watched it but they obviously figure a way out.

They avoid a collusion with the other ship. The enterprise has been in the loop 17 days but the other ship 80 years n

It's captain is frasier.

What I'm confused about is that it only took the enterprise 17 days to figure it out but the other ship took 80 years???

Why?

Is it just the nature of the causality loop?

Because the other ship was pulled from the past to the future. My take on it is that it only effected both ships for 17 days but that the other ship also got pulled from the past to 80 years in the future.

The older ship didn't have a Data on board to be able to carry info from one loop to the next.

I interpreted it as the other ship was stuck in the loop for 80 years before the Enterprise entered. Though I'm not sure what kept it in the loop if there was no Enterprise to crash into. Or maybe the time anomaly spanned decades so people could enter the same point in the anomaly from different points in outside time. Either/or, I doubt the writers really thought that through. I'd lean more towards the first interpretation (The Boseman looping for 80 years on the trot) as the being the intended one.

Before the Enterprise also got caught in the rift the Boseman's loop might have ended completely arbitrarily. I don't think it's mentioned that the loop resets with the destruction of the Enterprise it's just the last event we see.

Less advanced tech in general. Even before being able to send a message through to Data, the Enterprise-D were able to detect the time anomaly in every iteration whereas the Boseman were completely oblivious to it.

Would it make much difference though? From their perspective they were stuck there for, whatever it was, less than a day?

From when they started to when they finished they wouldn't have noticed anything other than 1 day passing. It's just, from the outside looking in, they were doing that same day for 80+ years. Sounds okay to me.

But there was huge deja vu for the Enterprise crew every time they went through a loop...(it wasnt just Datas knowledge) everyone felt weird....

Can you imagine 80 odd years of Deja Vu for the Boseman crew?

Sidenote...Kirstie Alley was supposed to appear on the Boseman along with Kelsey Grammar(she played Saavik in star trek 2.....a nice Cheers reference...but it didnt happen...

It was destroyed but then it all went back and reset again. Picard sees it from the shuttle.

I know there was a story that she wouldn’t appear on Frasier as she was a Scientologist, as he plays a psychiatrist and they’re very publicly against those, wonder if this was an extension of that?
