tidying up untidy corners on internal walls

we stripped the wallpaper in the house a few years back and revealed the below in three or four places; clearly these walls were put together in the expectation that they'd be wallpapered for ever more. the plasterboard is butt jointed up against the timber, and is sitting slightly proud of it. can anyone think of or offer any solutions to make these look tidier? you can see i'd tried a bit of filler but it didn't really do much.

You'll need to fill the gaps with plaster board and then skim over. Handy enough.

Pardon me. Just looking in more detail. Pack on the filler, wait for it to dry and lightly sand.

It'll crack away from the timber in time anyways, an architrave or even a small say 30mm x 6 mm piece covering the joint between timber & plaster

I'd use a plastic corner bead for taping and jointing. External corners are child's play to finish with jointing compound.

cheers all - we had considered just using filler but as this is an exposed corner (the shot above is taken at the top of the stairs) i was sceptical of it being able to take the knocks you'd expect as a result.

Yea I understand what you mean. Of you don't want to go down that route I'd be sticking on this type of pvc coner to it. Comes in different widths so you could match it in nicely.

If it was me I'd attach a timber profile with glue and a few nails and caulk seams and bring in with the woodwork finish, is it gloss?

I can't tell the levels too exactly from your photo but I would aim to place the majority of the profile on top of the wooden frame. You may have to remove some of the stock from the back of the profile where it sits over the plasterboard. All depends on finding a profile to suit, sometimes I would use two profiles sitting one on the plasterboard and one on the wood. Glue and caulk are your friends.
