Have you considered direct from Gigablue? https://store.gigablue.de/4k-receiver/gigablue-uhd-quad-4k/

Your best bet is germany, the customs and vat and admin on an item for that value will be pretty horrific and the add vat even to the delivery charge.

For example I bought 2 a water filters last week, 42 euro inc del, charged me 15 euro.

look here for a very good deal includes hdd

Thanks for the replies & I'm glad I asked ! I'll take a look at both those options, I don't fancy getting hammered for the customs/vat/admin etc.

    Appreciate it!

I was looking at this too if my Zgemma H7S ever dies for whatever reason. It looks like a nice box.

One thing that confuses me though is that the box has a slot for an additional tuner, and in various places on the website it mentions the availability of DVB-C/T2 single and dual tuners, but they're nowhere to be found on the GigaBlue website, and you can't add them as an option if you go the order page, so what's the story?

I should add that if you Google "Gigablue Single DVB-C/T2 Tuner" you'll find loads of links to various online stores but they're all showing as "out of stock" or "currently unavailable"!

Alun the best box to get to replace the Zgemma 7S is the VU+ uno se 4k and pair it with a play tv tuner. But that zgemma could run for years.

The next vu+ up the line comes with 2 x dtt tuners but very very pricey.

Thanks for that. I gather the PlayTV tuner is no longer made, so it'd be a case of finding a second hand unit somewhere I guess? There are plenty of other USB DVB-T2 tuners out there though, but it would depend on whether there were drivers available for enigma2 I suppose.

The VU+ duo se 4k does look nice, although its hard to see how they can justify that price differential when compared to the uno

Slight side topic would the Gigablue Ultra SCR-LNB 24 SCR - 2 Legacy UHD 4K Unicable LNB 0.2dB

    work in Ireland?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭swoofer

yes and you must know how to configure fbc tuners to get full benefit.

    I buy stuff from HM-Sat : https://www.hm-sat-shop.de/

I've two GigaBlue recievers connected to the above Unicable LNB. Works very well. You don't need to use a GigaBlue LNB, I had an Inverto before that.

    Thanks for that!

Any recommendations for a satellite dish itself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,967 ✭✭✭JDxtra

I have two - a 55cm dish for 28.2 and a larger (80cm maybe?) Triax dish for everything else. My setup is just for fun, I don't watch a huge amount from the larger dish, but it's handy to have.

Unicable LNB on 28.2 feeds both Gigablue boxes with multiple tuners (only one cable from the dish). I've 5 x LNBs on the larger dish pointing at different sats.

The boxes can also share tuners over the LAN. Eventhough the non-28.2 sats are physically connected to just one of the boxes, I can watch it on the other box.

Got an email from hm sat shop, haven't tried it yet

    15% off at https://www.hm-sat-shop.de/

    Using CYBER15

Might be worth thinking about a VU+ with the discount.

It looks like the DVB-T tuner (tuggb007) is no longer manufactured. I cant source the model needed for the GigaBlue UHD UE 4K . I wouldn't recommend going for this model unless your happy to use an external tuner.

I would agree, I snagged one a few years ago and was able to get the double DVB-T tuner module back then, so am quite happy with it but I never had much luck with external tuners on other (admittedly lower end) boxes.

I think I will go for the VU+ Duo 4K SE BT it's pricey though over 400 with the dvbt tuner

In terms of third-party DTT tuners for Enigma 2 receivers, I've had little issue with both the official XBox DTT Tuner (DVB-T2) and the infamous RTL2382 USB dongles that are used for cheap/beginner SDRs. The only issues I have with the XBox tuner is that for some reason it can't display channels from the NI RNI_1 multiplex (not a showstopper for me as I can receive the two Saorview multiplexes) as well as not displaying any signal level/quality stats, while for the RTL2382 dongles most if not all present Enigma 2 images only have drivers for those devices that can decode DVB-T streams only, not DVB-T2, due to them using old Linux kernels that only support older DVB-T only drivers - but again for Saorview reception this isn't a problem as transmissions are DVB-T only.

FWIW, my main receiver is an Octagon SF8008 4K with twin DVB-S2 tuner, with an XBox DTT dongle plugged into the rear USB socket for DTT reception.

Yes, the Xbox USB tuners worked very well in another box I had. If I recall, it was a single tuner only.

Suprised Gigablue are not selling these boxes with the option of a DVB-C/T2 tuner.

One of my GigaBlue UHD UE 4K boxes has a GIGA DVB-T2/C NIM (TT2L10) (Combined DVB-C/T2) tuner and the other has a GIGA DVB-T2/C NIM (TT3L10) (Combined DVB-C/T2) tuner. Handy to have the model numbers in case anyone needs them. The TT3L10 is a dual tuner.

It's worth keeping an eye on amazon.de warehouse I picked up a VU+ Duo 4K SE BT Edition for 280, normally about 370-380 including delivery. I've been after a box with a fbc tuner and at least they still make the dvbt tuner fir it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

Bumping an old thread but what enigma box do people recommend to have a dvb-s2 fbc tuner for freesat and a dual dvb-t tuner for saorview?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,678 ✭✭✭swoofer

aha how much do you want to spend and how nifty are you with enigma2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,719 ✭✭✭kaisersose77

My first enigma box was a dreambox 7020 and thats coming up to 20 years old after a quick google :) , have a giga blue trio uhd at the moment but want to upgrade that but at the same time provide up to 8 sat tuners and 2 terrestrial tuners to xteve for plex clients around the house and some nest hubs in hallways that i have streaming the likes of sky news (via home assistant and tvheadend). Price wise i understand its going to cost a few hundred at least but would like to see the options and im not seeing much regarding the gigablue being able to provide the above and posts about usb tuners not working anymore with them.

Does anyone know of any places that have VU+ Duo 4K SE in stock? Hadnt really kept up to date with enigma receivers over the recent years and all the German sites I used to use seem to be out of stock for most enigma receivers. Found a site in Spain that had them and i messaged them last night to confirm it was in stock but then saw it on eBay which seemed to be same company elling it under a different name and so bought it last night on eBay. Then got a message this morning from their website saying they don't have it in stock on eBay (as they could see my email address and knew I ordered on eBay) and gave me a link to purchase on their website saying it's in stock there. Told them to cancel order, feckers lying to cut out eBay fees pissed me off! but now can't find anywhere else that had a similar price :)
