Tough draw for Steve Lennon there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭US3

I thought noppert came through the back door qualifier how is he seeded?

Horrible draw. Be some effort to get out of that group.

When is the schedule of play due out?

Even getting third place in the group would be big for him in terms of his tour card - an extra 3K. He was one place on the OoM seeding away from being a third seed and has gotten a stinker of a draw as the 4th seed here, even getting third place is unlikely

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,325 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

I wouldn't say it's that unlikely to get third, Dirk is not in good form at the moment and I would give Lennon every chance of beating him. I think he'll lose the other two games but with the short format you never know. Lennon's doubling seems to let him down in the TV events so hopefully he works on that this week.

Probably needed to try anyway since right now with last place in a group he's 13k to the good in the projected top 64 for next year; so that in case he decides to continue he still has the TC rather than having to go through Q-School. Easier to give up a guaranteed TC, than to have to try to win it.

Interesting pricing on the betting for this event

    Gian van Veen 28/1

    Danny Noppert 40/1

    Dirk van D 40/1

    James Wade 40/1

    Noppert at 40 is mental

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

GVV and DvD will likely have to get through Price and Humphries.

Wade faces Bully Boy, Clayton, Dobey, or Rock.

While Noppy's path is probably through Wright and Chizzy.

So I don't think the odds are on the player themselves, moreso on the routes they have to take and those they will likely have to face.

Wades done, can’t see him winning anything of note again.

Just not a heavy enough scorer and his clutch finishes don’t happen as often anymore

    Some comeback by Searle

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Searle comes back from 4-0 down to beat GvV 5-4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

    Aspinall survived a scare there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭TheChrisD

Haruki could've easily won that match if the doubles hadn't deserted him 😟

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Scoring deserted Kleermaker in those last 2 legs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

V disappointing from Lennon. Had a bunch of darts to go 3-1 up on humphries and missed the lot. Could have been the match to secure his tour card

Christ, the state of Wright. Just back from defending the Cenotaph

Another poor result from Lennon. He was awful on the doubles again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,512 ✭✭✭✭Rikand

What was Wade complaining about to the scorers there ? I only caught the end of the match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Sherrock wins 5-4

I mentioned it at the start of the thread, his doubling always lets him down and it's the reason he's in danger of losing his card. Very poor standard from him on the doubles for years now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

V poor again on the doubles again tonight unfortunately for Steve.

    Bottle Boy is back!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,458 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Love to see Searle win it out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭US3

Price looks the player to beat in this. He's back playing like he was at the start of the year. His overall average was higher than his first 9 average tonight, I've never seen that before.

Glad to see Michael Smith looking a good bit healthier. Doubtless still categorised as overweight, but no longer looks dangerously obese so clearly on the right path. Hopefully he sticks with it this time.

MVG looks like he's throwing this game for Kleermaker

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,325 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Beaue Greaves will be very disappointed this morning. At 3-1 she looked great but the 164 finish from Heta really knocked her off her game and she fell to pieces afterwards.

Gary Anderson after ageing about 5 years

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,325 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

That was quality stuff from Anderson. He's in great form.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Some performance from Anderson. Really looks like his old self

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Some performance from Anderson there

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 692 ✭✭✭US3

Vintage Anderson love to see it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,458 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

And me saying Anderson is gone old

Hope Searle wins here, Humphries has a head for hitting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,798 ✭✭✭Dillonb3

Buntz is coming out of this tournament with a decent amount of prize money. Could easily go on a run at the worlds and possibly pick up a tour card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Buntz run continues
