I know it's a business for them and that they are not actually homeless etc but how much do they actually make in a day sitting there on the side of the street looking like a bum ?

Yeah, I doubt they'd get more than 15 quid a day alright. You'd only see an odd person giving them a coin or two. What I find surprising is that it's the same people for years, how can their dignity allow them sit there day In day out asking for change?

Considering how left wing Galway city is, I'm surprised that there isn't a queue of people to give them money.

Its the ones that hassle people for money that are annoying, its easy ignore the ones that just sit in the one spot.

I know that I don't have cash like I used to pre pandemic so I imagine it's much harder out there.

I hear that beggars in China often show their account details using QR codes, that might be the way to go but Id never pay using tap!

Not much anymore I guess. Nobody has cash or coins anymore.

They'd be better off with some type of electronic method to collect money.

Beggars used to do well out of people out drinking before cos their pockets were full of "shrapnel".

I dunno. Buskers are also still busking. Some have QR codes, but you still see coins etc in the case so I imagine it's the same for people begging.

Still a few round with cash and some old school tourists still get cash out to spend.
