Repair of dented shotgun barrel.

A friend managed to dent the barrel of his 1890's Lang shotgun on the first of November. Any advice on where to get it fixed near Dublin?

you need either a mechanical or hydraulic dent raiser. I wouldn’t think anyone in the country would have one. There is a gunsmith in N. Ireland with one but then you need a N.I. Visitors permit etc etc.

So I have an old side by side that I love and I normally drop it every couple of years and ding one of the barrells.... i bring it to Guerins in Knocklofty and Maurice sorts it out for me, don't quote me on price but normally costs around €50 or €90 ish and he'ld have it done for you in a week .. great service.

As for getting it fixed by Midway a gunsmith that will cost you an arm & a leg, and as for following the midway tutorial and doing it yourself that will cost you a hand.

Gerry Gearon ( not actually Guerin) in Knocklofty had retired to due to ill health and his son Maurice kept the show in the road for a couple of years. Sadly Maurice has also packed it in.

Gerry was a London Trained gunsmith, of that I'm almost certain, and a fine one at that. His son Maurice learned his trade from him. Both of them have done bits for me over the years but sadly there services are but a distant past.
