Best courier for shipping a bike?

Thought I'd ask on here as not having much luck via google...

I'm looking to get a bike shipped from Cork to Sligo/Roscommon, most couriers I've looked at either won't take a parcel that big or charge a huge amount (an average seems to be around the 250 mark!). Just thought I'd ask if anyone can recommend a courier at all? Trying to avoid driving for 9 hours or get the train for even longer.

You could ask the seller to box the frameset in a frame box and box the wheelset in a wheel box and send them separately.

You're paying twice for the courier but the box dimensions should be more manageable (would still need to be verified whether the courier will accept the sizes though).

Have have good experience with dpd in the past. Cost within Ireland normally 20 euro or less.

I've never shipped anything with them but we would often get deliveries of farm hardware in bike box sized cartons through the Pallet Network,

While it says it for palletised stuff they do take large boxes/cartons, no harm to find your local member and ask for a quote

I think that the drivers don’t strictly enforce those rules. I once sent a curtain rail (don’t ask) that was about 1.5m & they took it.

With the wheels off, the bike/box shouldn’t be too much longer than 1m I think?

fastway might be an option. I've sent wheelsets around the country with them for resonable costs. not sure how much insurance you get though, and that might add to the cost if needed.
