Fingal - Unauthorized Development Backlog

Hi,

Does anyone here living in the Fingal area have any recent-ish experience as to how long of a time gap there is between a person reporting unauthorized development, and the council getting around to issuing a warning letter please? Is it a matter of weeks, months, a year?

Planning legislation dictates they must act immediately. And they most likely will issues a S154 letter alleging the unauthorized works within a few days of the complaint being received.

The building owner then has 4 weeks to reply. They can then arrange an inspection by mutual agreement which could be a week or 2 weeks later.

The planning section have to follow the procedure to a tee as any deviation could mean any legal proceedings would be jeopardized.

It can take time.

Just out of interest - does Fingal County Council ever take enforcement action, or are they a toothless tiger that can often be ignored or strung along?
