I just saw an email in my junk folder (received on Sunday) . Preview shows this :

I haven’t opened the email but I am curious as to what it says. Just anted to know if simply opening the email causes harm or is it only if I click a link in the email? Or could it be either?

if it was my gmail that got the message I would delete without a second thought but this first time my Apple email account has got something like this.

It will claim to be a hacker who secretly hacked your webcam months ago, and has been watching and recording you mastrubating to pornography. It will demand money in return for deletion of the videos, and if you don’t comply, it will threaten to send the porn to your contacts.

There are no such recordings, but if you send the to enough people, a small number of people will comply and have over the money.

It’s a scam.

Yes I knew it was a scam of some sort but very curious as to what it was supposed to be about so thanks for telling me.

I did delete it.

I normally do just delete stuff like that with thinking about it but I must have been bored that day.
