Hi, I have an 8 year old green Star 42i Worcester Bosch gas boiler that's on its way out.

One of the causes was limescale but have a good softener system now.

Just wondering if I bought the same boiler again should I look for fitting discount as presumably it would be easier than fitting a different one.

I'd strongly recommend that the installer supplies the boiler and materials. This way he is responsible for anything that goes wrong. If you supply then there can be arguments about who is at fault.

I wouldn't be expecting any discounts. Things are as likely to go wrong installing the same boiler or a different boiler. The only thing that would make it more expensive or less expensive is moving the location of the boiler.

Plumber quotes you for the job. You accept the quote or look elsewhere. Be careful when getting different quotes. Make sure they are quoting for the things. One might include a power flush for example & another might not. The one that doesn't will seem cheaper

    Thanks,

I've read that a power flush is mandatory in order to validate the boilers warranty, should they not be standard then?

Not everyone does powerflush with new boiler. Plenty of RGI guys don't even own a flushing machine. It's the same with combi boiler. These should be connected to the cold water tank in the attic and a pump installed. Plenty of plumbers willing to connect to the mains water supply & walk away leaving you with an inferior system.

Not all quotes are equal. More times than not the cheapest one isn't going to be as good quality as the other ones. Always make sure that everyone is quoting for the same setup.

Well the pipework positions and flue outlet will be the same, so yes all things being equal I would go for the same machine.

    Is it a 42CDI?
