Anyone familiar with these TVs?

I was looking at one today (not mine so I couldn't really poke around).

The channels on Saorview are not ordered correctly. Doing a factory reset allows one to select either UK or Ireland as country. In UK, LCN can be toggled On or Off, but in Ireland it is set to Off and is greyed out.

I manually reordered the channels, but I know that won't last when someone fiddles.

I didn't see a software version, but I suspect it may require an upgrade.

Are these Vestel TVs? Where can I get an update? Any info appreciated.

I can't see that model on the list of TV's approved by Saorview.

JVC tvs are not made by Vestel, they are made for JVC Kenwood in China. I think Currys are the sole retailer here.

One issue with this and similar type sets is that people often don't ask the right questions, is it Saorview approved, can the channels be renumbered, what apps are available. There is no mention of Saorview in the Currys spec on the JVS tv's, the stickers instore often refer to FreeView, so buyer beware. This is partly because so many connect these sets to subscription services, Sky, VM, and don't use or question many of the facilities in the sets.

A friend recently, very impressed by the spec list on a tv, bought a reasonably expensive tv, brought it home connected it to his VM box and used none if any of the specs that had impressed him.
