NCT booking

Hi all,

I hope you are doing well.

My NCT will expire in a month and I am trying to book NCT on-line but the first available date is in March 2023.

What would happen if police stop me in November or December whilst I am waiting for my NCT that will take place in March?

Ring the NCT offices and ask for a cancellation slot. They will cancel you current booking and give you a new slot within a week and a new appointment within two/three weeks. You can pay at the NCT centre on the day

As said above you will get a booking if you call them.

Incidentally, last year I was in a similar situation (it suited me to wait so I didn't call) and checked with my insurance, they said once you make a booking you're covered. Of course, your underwriter may differ.

Shortly after you boot up your computer. Ring them and ask for a cancellation and they will be back to you within two weeks with a date

Me again with NCT.

Sorry to bother you

Two days ago I went for the NCT and, of course, the car failed.

I have only Learner Permit and I was driving to the NCT centre accompanied.

I was wondering, does anyone know, can someone else take my car to the NCT centre for the re-test that will be next week or I have to go also?

There is a friend of mine who is willing to take my car for the re-test next week. He has full driving license. I will be very busy in the next period.

Yes it can be done. Motor traders do it all the time but Im not sure what documents are needed. The NCTS site should have the info

Anyone who presents a car for test needs their drivers license with them and they're also supposed to have the cars logbook with them.

Normally most test centres don't bother asking for the logbook.

W124man said anyone can bring it and I just pointed out the two things ya need with ya.

Thank you all. I will give him (to my friend) log book and I will even write a consent letter and I will also give him my driving licence.

I hope it will be fine.

I am hoping my car will pass the NCT.

I was so frustrated because it failed.

The person bringing the car needs to bring their driving licence. About 50% of cars fail the test but it varies massively depending on the car and age and if the owner has performed basic checks like checking all lights are working and tyres are not bald.

All tires had been changed and all lights are working.

How did you get on? Did they mind it not being the owner who brought the car?

No. They didn't mind it. The car has passed the NCT. The previous owner was the one who brought the car and they didn't say anything about that.

Now I have to pay road tax. Is it possible to pay online or I need to send them the details by post?

I have just got the letter from them.
