Building insulated dog kennel - Advice

I'm planning an insulated kennel for the dog. Maybe 2 rooms so 1 can be an entrance hall and the other will be protected from the wind. I was thinking 50mm x 50mm for the frame and rigid insulation and possibly a hinge on the roof.

Any advice welcome especially on what to use on the exterior

clad the inside with pvc sheeting that way you can clean it easily helps keep the dust mites down

i just used some soffit board as i had some lying about you can get it in any hardware shop

The dog may be soaking wet when it goes into a kennel. I have had dogs all my life but never needed a kennel. Dogs belong in the family home.

What type of dogs? my springer loves spending warm nights outside in his kennel. The Little fecker won’t come inside which is grand until a fix comes at 04:00 and he starts barking. So in summary , some dogs like toy dogs or laps dogs don’t do well outside , but some needs love the outdoor living

Our springer is in our home. It's just the way we like it. Always have had a dog, and she is our biggest. A corgi, terrier and a Westie. All very happy indoors but I understand some homes and dogs like outside in their own little house.

Don't forget to insulate the floor with an XPS insulation board ( doesn't rot ) and cover with your PVC. Be grand and cosy then.
