    Hi,

I have an aging PC, and I've got a nice budget for a complete overhaul.

    Current setup:

    • asus rog maximus x hero
    • core i7 7800 (watercooled with an AIO -3 fan)
    • 32gb ddr4
    • rtx 3080
    • 4 nvnme drives (2tb, 1tb, 1tb, 500gb)
    • 750w corsair PSU
    • corsair 400d tower
    • 49" ultrawide samsung monitor (5120 x 1440 @120hz)

    What I'm looking to buy:

    • X670-P
    • Ryzen 9 7950X3D + suitable watercooler AIO preferred. I'm not really interested in setting up a custom loop, looks wayyy too complicated!
    • 128gb ddr5
    • rtx 3080 (keeping from current system)
    • 2 x samsung 980 pro 2tb
    • Corsair RM1000e PSU
    • Unsure on a case, the existing build above will be used for other purposes so needs to remain)
    • HTX Vive pro 2 VR

Would the 3080 be up to scratch? will it bottleneck? High end gaming and VR mostly. keeping the 49" ultrawide as it's a perfect monitor.

My budget is max €2,500, not a target, cheaper the better, but I won't be looking to upgrade for several years.

    Any input would be great!

Final point to make, the PC will be in a mini home server room, so visuals are not important.

Unless there's some very specific use case you didn't mention, then there's no need for 128GB of RAM. 32GB is still plenty enough to spare for current or near future gaming.

Completely wrong spec upgrades for gaming.

7800X3D much better. Use current AIO if AM5 compatible,.else buy a cheap 360 or air cooler (it uses 55W!).

You want a 4080. Can still get decent money back on the 3080.

    32GB more than enough.

Sorry, should also have said, the 128gb is required for other purposes.

Thanks, will look into a 4080 and a 7800X3D also. current AIO isn't AM5 ready, as I tossed the box and bracket years ago when I got it.
