Doorstep - bridging DPC

Putting in a doorstep and was unsure as to what I need to do in regards to bridging the dpc.

I'll be putting a fall on the steps to ensure it clears surface water. However, as the top of the step will be above the dpc what, if anything, do I need to do in order stop the dpc being bridged?

From watching patio installers on social media, most don't seem to do anything
