USB NOT SUPPORTED IN CAR

I keep getting message usb not supported in my car when I plug in USB. Anybody know a fix for this or why I get it? Thanks

Usually it's down to the way it's formatted that the car can't read it, if you format it as FAT32 that should work.

Skoda? My wife has the same problem intermittently. A Galaxy S20 FE on a 231 Kamiq. We’ve tried replacing the USB cable but no luck. Stops Android Auto from working.

Replace the cable with a decent quality (not pound shop) one first off. Also check that you haven't managed to set the phone to charging only - you should be able to pull up a notification for USB connection and select there.

Make sure it's a data transfer USB cable and not a charging one (there actually is a difference!)

Try a smaller capacity usb, can't get anything over 64gb to work in my car.

OP, what year is your Tiguan and what type of head unit does it have. Some older cars while having a USB port, it is only for charging a device and has no ability for data transfer irrespective of the cable.

Another thing is that your phone may not be compatible with your car. Maybe try connecting a different phone.

It happens all the time on Mrs CML's Nissan Juke. I'd guess that the USB is incompatible with Nissan Software. If I need to charge the phone I'll use an adapter in the cigarette lighter (it still has one) and just use Bluetooth for music from the phone.

When you plug the phone in, there should be an option on your phone as to what you want to actually do with the cable (charge only, data etc)
