transfer time needed at Heathrow

Could anyone advise how much time I should leave between arrival time of BA flight from Los Angeles into terminal 5 Heathrow to a flight back to Ireland from Terminal 2? We will have to collect bags and check in again as will be booked seperately. Our flight from LA is due to arrive at 10.10am. There is a flight home at 13.50. Is that cutting it fine?

Your suggesting times give you plenty of time, but are you certain you cannot check your bags through from the first flight to your final destination.

Thank you, Yes I haven't booked the 2nd flight yet so will be two separate bookings. I have booked a package of flight, car and hotel with BA from Heathrow and it was way more expensive to start in Dublin so will book the flight separately.

Unless the first flight is delayed, that is absolutely loads of time.

When checking in there shouldn't be any reason your bags can't be pushed through to your final destination.

If you collect your bags you won't be able to transit through the airport and will have to make your way outside - possibly on the HR express.
