Just wondering what happens if a plane lands as an emergency procedure in a country that does not support gay marriage, what happens to gay people who are married… would they be arrested and killed?

Only if the country has a law that says that having gone through a same-sex marriage ceremony anywhere in the world is a crime in that country, and that the penalty is death.

I'm pretty sure no country in the world has such a law.

If the law of a particular country doesn't recognise gay marriage, the penalty in that country is that your same-sex marriage isn't recognised; you are treated as unmarried. Not many countries arrest and kill people for being unmarried.

I don't think it's a crime anywhere in the world to be married to a person of the same sex. It is a crime to have gay sex. So as long as they don't have sex, they should be fine.

Realistically, after the plane has conducted a difficult emergency landing, the top priority for authorities in the host country is to quarantine all passengers to identify which passengers are gay -- even worse, which passengers are both married and gay -- and to turn them over for disciplinary hearings the following day. Once those gay people are cleared to remain in the country, they go to a gay bar with the authorities, who turned out to be closet gays all along.

Unrealistically -- to answer your question another way -- nothing would happen because being married is not a crime in any country in the world.
