Forgotten Irish personalities

    Do you know any Irish celebrities or personalities that were quite famous for a while before fading into obscurity?

    I'll start with Limerick's Concy Ryan. He was reasonably popular back in 2011 as part of an Irish short movie competition ran by RTE (which was eventually won by Hardy Bucks). His character was that of a stereotypical council estate boyo from Moyross who was concerned that the Limerick Regeneration project was going to affect his lifestyle. The actor playing Concy even appeared in character on the Irish version of Come Dine with Me as well as appearing in a tv ad as Naked Gym Changing Room guy.

    The Concy Ryan character has since faded into obscurity, as well as the guy playing him Francis Ryan. A Google search brought up his LinkedIn page. His LinkedIn profile was full of barely comprehensible corporate style bollocks however.

    Can anyone else remember similar characters that have faded into obscurity in recent years?
