How much is straw making in your area?

I see the journal were quoting €20/bale from the field.

No prices around here yet but I'd say 20 would be the minimum

I sold it for €20 a bale collected last year. Will be asking €25 this year if it’s baled fairly right. No winter barley straw baled yet tho.

With sim straw would need to gross over 200e per acre to be worth while with the hardship andd p/k/om cost this year. A few tractor mounted 'Kidd' etc, choppers about now even if combine hasn't a chopper.

Is straw scarce? I presume it is. Seen a silage harvester gathering rows of straw in a field today and just blowing it out the spout back onto the ground. Clever way to clear a field of it.

What part Westmeath? In bad need of a few bales here.

It’s scarce here in Waterford anyway. Seems to be a few around me cutting wholecrop and mixing into the pit with grass.

You'd be nearly as well off with none than giving 20 in the field for wheaten rounds.

Yep, but I need something to put under a few calves till my usual man gets the combine out.

been baling sone the last 2 days. Best fields were just under 8 bales an acre

4-5 bales and acre on the poorer fields

Tbf it was either our straw off the BIL that we get for giving him a hand or straw lads wanted for themselves off there own crop

the BIL has chopped every acre of his. The payment and the weather this year makes the decision very easy

Field here had 205 8x4x3 s last year winter barley this year finally baled on Thursday after 6 weeks on the ground and got 84 bales.
