I'm trying to cut some dado rail to fit a corner.

The corner, of course, isn't some mythical 'Perfect 45'. So, I need to match the degree it is. If a tool exists, for this job? I'll buy one. Right now. Off to Amazon Prime with me. I'll down tools till it gets here. I don't mind. Dogs won't mind. They don't like me screaming.

This is the offending situation. I'm sorry It isn't a perfect photo either. I only have two hands and the battery was blinking red:

I think the left hand cut may well Be a pretty good 45. But, that wall / bit of rail sticks out such that the wall / rail to the right angles back ..... How can I explain this? Can ye See it? There's something wrong with the ' V ' it's presenting. ' V ' wants to be wider, or narrower. Wall / wood on the right goes back, too far, to our left.

That's it. My fingers hurt. My brain hurts. I Do know my limitations. Help. Please.

I have a Sliding Bevel here. Inherited it. Never really known what ye supposed to do with them. I have a sense that a Protractor might help? Haven't got one.

I remember there's that trick that Tilers use. Can't remember how it's done. But, it's amazing, when ye Can remember. Thought I might be missing something similar here? Is There a 'trick of the trade, please?

So bloody close to finishing this job too! 😬

    Thanks.

Two strips of cardboard, a pencil and a sissors should be able to make a template of the angle you need, copy that onto the wood.

Brilliant!!! 🤗 See how bloody Simple something can be; When ye know the trick (And / or have a clear head!)

Thanks! Looming arthritis really Is making my fingers a misery, right now. But, I'll sleep better, knowing I can wake up knowing what I have to do! 😁

Excellent! And Thanks for the quick reply 👍️

Nope! See? That's making my brain hurt! I can't 'See' it, ye see?

Dunno why I'm like this. Possibly why I'm useless at maths too. My brain just, somehow, has trouble with registering certain pattern forms. It's odd.

I could envisage the cardboard trick, instantly. But, I clicked that. Looked at it. And I'm thinking; ' What the hell am I supposed to do with That?!' Somehow, it just won't compute. I expect you find that weird? :|

Thankfully, I'm damn near done here now. Get this bit of rail on. Last dab of paint. Got a chippy due round, next week, hang my door :) Then I might die. Not sure. Gypsys Curse, see?

I usually just use 2 bits of whatever I have lying around, one along each wall and let them overlap "beyond" the angle.

Mark one of the pieces at the two overlapping parts and join your two lines.

You have now just bisected (halved!) the angle without even realising it. Set your mitre saw to this angle or just transfer to the dado if you were too cheap to buy a mitre saw ;)

Don't mess with my head, GreeBo! I was just settling down for the evening. Get back to all that stuff again tomorrow.

Did You realise that they missed Balearic Shearwater out, completely, from the 1999 Collins? See? Just discovered that, just now. Troubled mind.
