Patio Slab jointing

Recently laid a new patio, just wondering what would be the best way to point the joints (10mm joints, slabs are 40mm thick)? I was going to pack with a dry mix 1:3 cement:sand to avoid staining the slabs. Is it best to just brush and pack the mix in dry, or I've seen it recommended to add a tiny bit of water to the mix (ie. wetting the trowel while mixing so the mix can slightly clump/stick together but is still powdery).

And after it's packed, should the area be sprinkled with water from a watering can or similar or just leave to harden naturally from moisture in the air?

Or should I just look at a wet mix jointing compound?

    Thanks

Similar situation here last year and I did the same as you've mentioned above for mix ratio and brushing it in dry. Needed a bit of a top up in weaker spots this year after the spring powerhose clean but generally solid otherwise and I had little to no weeds popping up.

Moisture in the air and rain will set it hard for you, just make sure you have a bit of a dry spell (Which you would think would be now!) so you're not trying to brush over slabs that are any way wet which is where you might get some staining, particularly with concrete slabs as they tend to hold moisture for longer.
