    Dreadful stuff from SA

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,820 ✭✭✭fitz

Two player advantage in the forwards and SA still can't buy a try.

South Africa really are the business up front. So much power and excellent technique.

But attacking structure is so poor.

    Embarrassing they still haven't scored

You'd say Ireland would be scoring tries in those situations. But worryingly for NZ, when the pressure comes on in their 22 they go to pieces, very much like last year.

But couldnt score a try from a maul against a pack with 2 less forwards...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 560 ✭✭✭MaddChris

Thats a try, even after falling over themselves at the last maul

Carley should be giving New Zealand a third yellow.

Growing in confidence from an Irish point of view watching this

Neither of these teams are impressing...

The take away from this is looking good against Australia & Argentina doesnt make you a world beater.

Agree, and close to full strength selections. France will be watching with interest. Scotland are a far more creative side in attack than SA, if they can deal with SA power, could be an interesting game.

Not quite the spectacle people were expecting I think.

NZ going for the world record for how many penalties you can concede in 40 minutes.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 29,646 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

A break into the oppo 22 and you go for a kick pass quickly against 13 men. What on earth are SA thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,594 ✭✭✭standardg60

SA half backs are really poor, there for the taking, NZ haven't started yet

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,861 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

SA wont be winning anything in france with this OH.

If either team plays like this against us, we will take them apart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,861 ✭✭✭lawrencesummers

NZ will win this game, they have soaked up everything SA have thrown at them and wont make the same mistakes when they get their chance.

That pass the highlight of the half.......... then Willemse hoofs it away

Not sure if these are 2 brilliant teams or 2 not so great.Boks wasteful. AB defending well.

Maybe just cancelling each other out. But very messy .

These are absolutely not 2 brilliant teams. A team that spends 10 minutes hammering away against 13 men to score a close range try under the posts (and at another point in time goes straight to kickpass against 13) is not a great team.

And a team that gives away 12 penalties in 20 minutes...

My big issue is NZL have no momentum whatsoever at the moment, if NZL can get back level I would back them as they are bound to have their purple patch at some point and when they do they sure as hell wont only be 7-0 up.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 8,820 ✭✭✭fitz

None of this is too surprising having watched the RC...folks have overstated NZs improvement imo.

    Boks pack will murder Scots

This is why my namesake (sort of) banned offloads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,122 ✭✭✭Shehal

They have I agree, NZL have improved that there is no doubt but I've still remain unconvinced that they are really back to their pre 2020 best. Top 4 in the world obviously but anymore than that im not convinced and performances like tonight cast further doubts for me as these are the kind of games that have always been the big question marks over where NZL really stand.
